Do you have a superstition? What is it, why do you have it, and how do you follow it?

I absolutely have to make a wish before blowing a fallen eyelash off my finger. It’s the only “make-a-wish” superstition that I still think my wishes would come true. When the clock turns 11:11, I don’t even bother. Blowing out the birthday candles, I’ve outgrown that one…..sadly. But I still hang on to those eyelash wishes. My mom taught me that trick one day when I was very young and so that’s just what I’ve always done. I take a fallen lash off my face, look at it almost invisible on my finger; I close my eyes, and I blow it off with a wish.

When I see eyelashes on my friends’ faces, I immediately indulge in the opportunity to teach them this awesome way to make a wish. I pull it off their face and, “Make a wish! Make a wish!” There’s always a sort of urgency in my voice. They have to make a wish now because at no other point will it even count.
